Dark Goddess Hecate

“The Earth began to bellow, trees to dance
And howling dogs in glimmering light advance
Ere Hekate came.”

Dark Goddess Hecate’s celebration day is November 16

The Goddess Hecate was a deity of the night, crossroads, life and death. She was called Most Lovely One, the Distant One, Queen of the World of Spirits, goddess of witchcraft. To the Thracians especially, Hecate was goddess of the Moon, the dark hours, and the Underworld. Midwives were connected with her.

Some myths say Hecate was the daughter of the Titans Tartaros and Night; other versions say of Perseus and Asteria (Starry-Night), or of Zeus and Hera. We do know her worship did not originate in Greece. One of her sacred animals was the toad, a symbol of conception. She was called the goddess of transformation as she ruled over the various passages of life, and could change forms or ages.

Hecate was considered to be the third aspect of the Moon, the Hag or Crone (Carrier of Wisdom). The Greeks called Hecate the Hag of the Dead. (The word “hag” may have come from the Egyptian word “heq”, meaning a matriarachal ruler who knew magickal words of power.)

An ally of Zeus, she was accompanied by a pack of hounds.

An aspect of the Amazon goddess, Hecate’s chariot was pulled by dragons. Her symbols were the key and the cauldron. The women who worshipped her often stained their palms and soles with henna. Her festivals were held at night by torchlight. Every year on the island of Aegina in the Saronic Gulf, a mysterious festival was held in her honor.

Black Candle Magic…

The black candle is very powerful. It is one of the most protective colors. It can be used to bring a person back down to earth. It can also be used in various ways to uncover secrets. It can be used in meditation, to help us find the light within the dark. It stabilizes and awakens greater responsibility. It is most effective when burnt with a white candle. Too much black can manifest depression.

Use Black candles for magic with…

The God, New moon magic, Male energy, banishing Magic, Diet, Protection; Repelling negativity; Binding, shapshifting. Use black candles for mirror Scrying. Traditional candles for the dead during remembrance rituals at Samhain (Halloween)

Black Salt

Black Salt is used in banishing, binding rituals or to quiet bothersome neighbors. Magically used to remove negative energies from items, or places. Often used to remove hexes and other harmful or negative energies. Cleanse your magical implements in a bath of black salt and water… and then wash in a bath of sea salt to purify the item and allow in only positive energies.

A PERFECT ingredient for filling ‘Binding Poppets’ for a powerful outcome. Place a black candle in a pile of black salt for Samhain Remembrance rituals, sprinkle Ouiji Boards with Black Salt before use.

*Making a black mirror at home

Here is a simple method for making a black mirror at home.

Buy a picture frame, complete with the glass.
Pick up some black paint at the craft/hardware shop, best use gouache paint, acrylic or oil based.
Make sure you have a paintbrush!
Disassemble the frame and lay the glass on a piece of newspaper.
Paint the backside of the glass with the black paint and let dry. (I recommend 2-3 coats.)
After it is all dry, if there is any need clean the outer part of the glass with winnow cleaner to make it extra shiny and pretty.
Place the painted glass into the picture frame the unpainted glass side facing outwards.
You can glue various magical items to your black magic picture frame, like herbs, crystals, stones, shells, feathers etc
Use with black candle, slightly tilted for candle Scrying, especially effective when the Sun is in Scorpio, October.

Esbats

While the sabbats are solar festivals that celebrate and honor the Sun, God and male energy, esbats are rituals celebrated by witches and pagans to revere the moon, and the feminine energy represented by her lunar cycle.

Esbats, derived from the French esbattre, meaning “to frolic,” are gatherings or solitary rituals held every month on the night of that month’s full moon, to worship the goddess as represented by the moon. Some groups and solitaries may hold their esbats on the night of the new moon, however. It is also the correct time to hold an esbat, and some motivated groups or persons may hold rituals on both nights. Esbats may also be known as lunar rituals.

While sabbats are strictly days of celebration, esbats are known as “working” rituals. This is usually the time set aside for a coven, groups or solitaries to perform magick, such as casting spells for the success of a new endeavor, healing rituals, etc.

Binding Spell

The purpose of this spell is to rid yourself of the negative energies of someone who is mentally or emotionally abusing you. If done properly, it will not harm the object of the spell nor will it affect his or her daily life in any way. It will simply make the person powerless to mentally or emotionally harm you.

Perform when Moon is dark

Materials:

Small cloth doll,(poppet) leave the head unstitched until you are ready to begin the ritual Needle and thread

Some personal item from the person you want to bind (fingernail clippings, hair, handwriting sample)

Black ribbon

Black candle

Cauldron or other fireproof container

Sterilized needle

Piece of parchment paper and pen or quill

One candle at each quarter (optional)

Ritual:

Call the quarters – I like to use candles at each quarter to form a circle of fire for extra protection. Light the black candle Concentrating deeply on the person you are binding, place the personal object inside the head of the doll and sew it shut.Tie the black ribbon around the poppet’s head, signifying the binding of that person.

‘With harm to none, my will be done

I hereby bind you (name of person)

Your words cannot harm me

Your thoughts cannot harm me

You cannot harm me’

Continue chanting this or something like it until you feel power surging through you. Visualize the person helpless to slander or verbally and mentally abuse you while you are chanting.

~ Now, to bind the spell ~

If you have a sigil or a craft name, sign it on the small piece of paper. If not, sign your own full name. If others are working the ritual with you, they too should sign the paper. With the sterilized needle, prick one of your fingers and put a small drop of blood over your signature. Again, if others are working with you, they should place a drop of blood over their signatures. (using a different needle, of course) Fold the paper, light it on fire and drop it into the cauldron (which should be on a heat-proof surface!). Meditate on the flames until the paper completely burns away. If you are working with a group, join hands at this point and feel the power surging around the circle as the spell is bound. Ground and center

Release the circle. Thank the Goddess and God for their protection and power Bury the doll as far away from you as possible within the next few days.

“You are bound to that which you bind !”

Spell to Raise Spirits

To see spirits, old European grimoires recommend mixing together aloe, pepper, musk, vervain, and saffron and burning this in a cemetery. We can adapt this for other locations (like those in which the spirit lived) by adding a bit of sweet grass or tobacco to a specially prepared incense. Create the incense on the anniversary of the death of the individual you wish to contact. This is then burned at 11 am, in the safety of a magic circle that also holds symbolic items to connect you to the entity. An incantation to encourage the spirit’s presence is:

“Guardians of the Spirit realm, hear and guide my plea.

When the witching hour rings true, bring my friend (loved one, etc.) ________ to me.

Other souls who hear my call are not welcome in this place.

Only the one known as _____ may enter sacred space.”

Repeat the request three times, twenty minutes apart, then wait quietly for indications of a presence. Signs include the scent of flowers or a favored cologne, a cool wind, movement of curtains, and candles going out or twitching erratically. Once you feel sure the spirit is with you, do not make it remain overly long. Take care of your business, say farewell, and thank the guardians for their assistance.

* Communication with and understanding the purposes of spirits:

! Word of Warning !

Spiritual entities should not be banished or called for amusement. It is best to contact a knowledgeable, experienced psychic for advice or assistance before undertaking any of these spells.

~ Timing ~

Witches Fivefold kiss

This was traditionally part of the ritual between the priest and priestess, as well as part of the great rite.

“Blessed be thy feet which have brought thee in these ways
Blessed be thy knees that kneel at the sacred altar
Blessed be thy sex, without which we would not be here
Blessed be thy breast, formed in beauty and strength
Blessed be thy lips, that they shall utter thy sacred names…”

To Curse a book

“By the powers of witches and mages

By the wisdom of crones and sages

By the Moon as it moves through its stages

By Hecate and lunar rages

By the Sphinx and for the ages

I craft a curse upon these pages.”

To Beckon a Person

To beckon a someone, write the persons name on parchment paper in Dove’s blood ink, fold paper three times and put under candle holder. light a white candle that you have “dressed” in Rosemary oil and rolled in dry Rosemary leaves. If you have a picture of the person put it next to candle. Stand to the East while saying:

“If you are turning towards me
know I turn also to you,
and come to me in love

If you are thinking of me
know I think also of you,
and come to me in love

If you are saying my name
know that I say your name, and call you to me
and come to me in love

(name)
(name)
(name)”

Repeat as needed.
Timing; When Mercury rules, Moon in Gemini, Wednesdays. Leave the candle to burn out until you here from the one you call.

Witches Bottle

The Witch’s Bottle protects the Witch from all negativity for as long as the bottle stays underground. This spell is an important part of the PectiWitan focus of my tradition because once you have created your bottle, there is no need to cast a circle for protection.

Making the Bottle:

– Take a small jar and fill it about halfway with sharp objects such as pins, needles, nails, screws, etc.
– Fill the rest of the bottle with urine and perhaps a spot of menstrual blood
– Tightly seal
– Use your athame (if you have one) to dig a hole (Make sure you chose a place that is unlikely to be disturbed)
– Place the bottle in the hole and cover with dirt

Witches Bottle Chant

‘I am a witch of ancient lore, I petition these trees, and forest floor.
Converge myself upon this site, spider weaving power and might.
Air and Fire, Water and Earth, aid in my quest, I call you forth.
Aradia, Aradia, I intone, thrice the power you have shone.
Open my spiral of strength and sorcery, encompass the soul you have granted me.
Pentacle of old, stones of deep, protection around, assistance I seek.
Marry my veins, to this Earth, Cernunnos I summon you forth.
Steele needles and pins, red blood of sins.
Buried deep in clandestine dusk, liquid Venus, scent of musk.
Hear my words from Moon to Moon, cite the Lord & Lady’s Rune
By the law of three times three, this spell is done, so mote it be…..

The Pentacle

ace-of-pentacles

Phantomwise.com

The most important symbol of Witchcraft is the pentacle. The pentacle (or pentagram) is a Witches symbol of protection and positive power. The five points signify earth, air, fire, water and spirit.

The symbol of Witchcraft, The Pentacle, is a bold and fascinating statement about our place in the Universe. The pentagram represents an ancient concept that can be found in philosophical thought in both East and West. Although over 8,000 years old, the image of the pentagram is applicable in our modern world. The pentagram tells us that we have the ability to bring Spirit to Earth; this applies to every area of practical day-to-day living, as well as spiritual thought. The ability of bringing Spirit to Earth is what makes us whole.

Earth: (lower left hand corner) represents stability and physical endurance.
Fire: (lower right hand corner) represents courage and daring.
Water: (upper right hand corner) represents emotions and intuition.
Air: (upper left hand corner) represents intelligence and the arts.
Spirit: (at the topmost point) represents the All and the Divine.

An Extremely Strong Spell To Bind Your Enemies’ Feet

woman spell casting

BE WARNED: This spell is very dark and causes much suffering to the person it is placed upon and will eventually cause them to die. BE VERY SURE that you want to do this before you do it. I, in no way, am responsible for the effects of this spell on the caster or the person it is put upon. This spell causes so much suffering to the person it is placed upon that they will be too miserable and surrounded with calamity to even think about hurting you. Their emotional, mental and physical states will deteriorate. They will suffer financial hardships. Their lifelong friends will abandon them. Their family will abandon them. They will most likely attempt suicide and fail. The spirits who exact this spell will not let the person die until they have suffered for years.

WHAT YOU NEED:

1. Shoe box or small cardboard box.

2. Several yards of black ribbon.

3. A photo of the person on whom you want to place the spell.

4. A pair of chicken feet.

WORKING THE SPELL:

1. Write the name and birth date of the person on the back of the photo. This provides the spirits who will execute the spell an added connection to the person.

2. Place the photo of the person against the pair of chicken feet FACING OUTWARDS away from the chicken feet.

3. Take 1/3 of the length of black ribbon and tie the photo to the chicken feet.

4. Place the bundle of photo/chicken feet in the shoe box or cardboard box.

5. Put the lid on the box.

6. Take what is left of the black ribbon and tie up the box with it.

7. Bury the box 3 feet deep at a crossroads or in a cemetery.

8. As you leave the area (this is very important) DO NOT LOOK BACK at the area where you have just left.

old cemetery

SOME DETAILS ABOUT THE SPELL:

1. The photo, name and birth date of the person form a link to the person.

2. The chicken feet represent the person’s psychic feet.

3. When you wrap the photo to the chicken feet, STRONGLY SEE AND VISUALIZE the person on whom you are casting the spell to be bound, immobilized and unable to harm you. THE STRONGER YOUR VISUALIZATION, THE STRONGER THE SPELL. (Personally, I find it useful to pull up memories of the person to evoke strong emotions towards that person: for instance if the person has harmed you physically, try to remember how powerless you felt at the time and how much you wanted that person not to harm you. Then visualize that person bound with ropes or in a cage, etc… whatever works for you. These types of spells call on the emotions of the person harmed so the stronger your emotions and the stronger your visualizations, the more effective the spell will be.)

4. When you are burying the box, AGAIN STRONGLY VISUALIZE THAT YOU ARE NOT BURYING THE BOX, BUT THE PERSON. If you need to, call on your emotions connected to this person again to visualize how much you want them “buried” and unable to harm you. Again, the stronger and clearer your visualization, the stronger the spell.

5. When you leave and don’t look back, what you are doing is effectively divorcing yourself from the need for validation or the need to see the effects of the spell. What you are saying (without saying) to the spirits who will work the spell is that you trust them to work out the spell.

Basically, what this spell does is return your enemies’ venom to them. So, the more they hate and want to harm you, the more they will suffer. However, and let me state again, that this spell is very dark. Personally, I would only perform it if my life or the life of someone I love were in danger from someone. Again, I do not take any responsibility for the effects of this spell on the caster or on the person on whom the spell is cast.

Binding Freezer Spell To Keep Someone From Hurting You Emotionally/Mentally/Verbally

What You Will Need:

1. A piece of white cloth or a piece of white paper.

2. A pen, any color.

3. White yarn or thread.

4. A waterproof freezer bag (ziploc).

5. Water (tap water is fine).

6. A Bible.

When: You can do this spell anytime, but I recommend doing it on the full moon for best chance of the most power.

Doing The Work:

1. Cast a circle. You can do this with a wand or your finger. You can simply point your finger/wand to the floor/ground and “draw” a circle and pentacle while visualizing them.

This is the spell for casting a circle that I used:

Visualize yourself in the middle of your cast circle and pentacle and with three rings of purple light around me: one at your feet, one at your waist and one at your head. You can also cast your circle with salt if you so choose. Try really hard not to break the circle once you have cast it. I have a toddler, so I have to do my spells when she is asleep otherwise she will break the circle unintentionally. The spirits will understand if the circle is broken in this way, but if you do break it accidentally, you must explain to them why you did it and apologize to them. Then you have to start again.

Say this:

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

So mote it be.

By dragon’s light this (insert month) January night I call to thee to give me your might.

By the power of three I conjure thee to protect all that surrounds me.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

(Now point wand/finger to the sky)

Terra, Ignis, Aqua all three.

Elements of astral I summon thee.

Earth by Divinity.

Divinity by Earth.

Give my enemy the power to see the strength of the elements by my side.

No rules magic I shall abide.

Now when My enemy meets his downfall this spell shall have no power at all.

In no way shall this spell reverse or place upon me any curse.

So mote it be.

(now lower wand/finger)

2. Write the person’s name on one side of the paper in big bold letters.

3. Around that person’s name, write what you want to bind them from doing. For instance, if they are verbally abusing you, you could bind them from speaking hurtful and abusive words to you. Here’s what I wrote when I did the last one: “<person’s name>, I bind your tongue in Jesus’ name from speaking hurtful words, lies and gossip. I bind you in Jesus’ name from doing any harm to me or to anyone I love.” Keep writing what you want to bind them from all down the paper until the paper is full. (While you are doing all of this, focus all of your energy regarding that person into what you are writing. MEAN IT.)

4. Turn the paper over. On the other side of the paper, write Psalm 130 from the Bible.

5. Fold the paper into a small square.

6. Use the white yarn/thread to wrap the folded square of paper until you can’t see the paper anymore while chanting: “<person’s name>, I bind you in Jesus’ name from doing any harm to me or anyone I love”. Keep wrapping and chanting until you cannot see any of the paper.

7. Put the yarn/thread wrapped square of paper into the waterproof freezer bag.

8.  Close the circle and thank the spirits for attending you and send them on their way with blessings. You can also tell the spirits to stay or go as they wish, but make sure to thank them politely for attending you. (Personally, as I was telling the kind spirits my thanks and letting them know that they could either go or stay, I asked them if they would stay as long as they felt my daughter and I needed their protection. I do this with most all of my protection spells. However, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.)

Close your circle by saying this:

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

So mote it be.

8. Fill the bag with water.

9. Put the bag in the freezer and leave it there.

If the person you are binding is still abusing you a few days after this spell, you can do it again. Keep in mind, a spell is only as powerful as the energy of the person casting it. So, you must put forth all of your energy and focus into the spell if you want it to be at it’s most effective.

Odin’s Binding and Transformation Spell

 Odin

This is a major spell. One that should be reserved for the most serious problems.
It is a psychic takeover of the person’s mind so be sure the circumstances justify using Magic this
way, such as for a rapist, a child abuser, or active practitioner of black magic.

(Side note: I personally don’t believe in the existence of white, gray or black magic. I believe all spells come from the heart of the caster and if that person’s heart is dark then the spell will taken to dark places. Conversely, if the caster’s heart is good, the spell will be taken to light places.)
This spell is not meant to punish the person it binds. It is meant to help them.
You cast it out of necessity and compassion. Not in anger.
It is designed to stop the person dead in their tracks. To freeze them from doing
harm to themselves or others and give them pause; a clear space in which
positive transformation can occur.

What You Will Need:

1. An altar.(This altar would be different from a Vodou/Hoodoo altar since this is not that kind of spell. It should be more of a Pagan/Wiccan/Deity altar. Put things on it that you think would please Odin. Here is a great site that talks about who Odin is and what he might like on his altar.

2. A poppet. This represents the person at whom you are directing the spell. This site has a good introductory about how to make poppets.  A poppet – any sort of poppet is fine, in the correct gender if possible. Personalize it in some way to the person you will bind, such as embroidering their
name on it or affixing a picture of them to the poppet’s face. The person from whom I got this spell likes to use a human shaped candle with the person’s name written on it or carved into the wax.)
3. Two candles. Black ones if possible. (Black candles are somewhat hard to come by so if you can’t find black then get the darkest color. It doesn’t have to be a big candle. A small .99 cent candle is fine.)
4. Black thread (cotton is good. Linen is better)
5. Incense (Copal, fumitory, sandalwood and frankincense are good, but use whatever you can get.)
6. An image of the person or something connected with them. (If you don’t have anything, write their name on a piece of paper.)
7. A healthy, living tree.

8. Whatever you normally use for casting a circle.

Working The Spell:
1.Gather everything (except the tree) where you will cast the spell.
2. Light one candle and the incense.

3. Cast a circle in your usual way. (I like to use Sea Salt that I’ve put in the freezer for three days. The cold cleanses it.) This site has a page on how to simply cast a circle. You also may want to Call the Corners. Here is what I say when I Call the Corners:

I call upon East, the direction of Air.

I call upon North, the direction of Earth.

I call upon West, the direction of my ancestors and Water.

I call upon South, the direction of Fire.

I ask that you aid me in these protection workings.

4. Bind the poppet with the thread wrapping it around and around and making knots whenever you feel they are necessary. Speak to the person as you do this. Tell them specifically why you are binding them and what you are binding them from.
5. Leave a long piece of thread hanging from the poppet. Tie 9 knots in this. Drip molten wax on the bindings to seal them.
Use wax to seal any body parts you are binding, such as the hands of someone who beats his wife or kids; the crotch of a sexual predator; or the mouth of someone who is verbally abusive.

6. Close the circle and ground power.

Thank the spirits for aiding you and Close the Corners:

East, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

North, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

West, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

South, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

This is what I say to close my circle and ground the power:

Thrice around the circle bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circle bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circle bound sink all evil to the ground.

So mote it be.

You can do it however you feel comfortable doing it. I only offer this as a suggestion. Additionally, I would also thank Odin and any other helping spirits around profusely for attending you. It is just good form to always thank them. You want to be polite to them.

7. Leave the poppet on the altar and have it touching whatever you are using to connect them to it and leave it like that until the candle and incense have burned out.
8. Take the poppet and use the thread to tie it upside-down to a tree – an indoor tree will work as well as an outdoor one.
9. Make the 5-fold bond, if it is possible to do this with the type of poppet and bindings you have used. You can copy the position of The Hanged Man. Here is a picture of one of my tarot cards depicting The Hanged Man just for your reference:

the hanged man

Say this:
I ween that I hung on a windy tree,
Hung there for nights full nine;
With the spear I was wounded, and offered I was
To Odin, myself to myself,
On the tree that none may ever know
What root beneath it runs.

This is the transformation part of the spell. Leave the poppet on the tree for nine days.
10. Recite the poem to the poppet at least once each day while sending the person strong thoughts about the changes you want them to manifest.
Send them compassion.  Send them enlightenment. Hold a mirror up to the poppet while you recite the poem if you want them to ‘see’
what they have done. Yell at the poppet if you have anger you need to release.

Dream of Calendars- 2/24/14

Last night I was spiritually attacked after giving a very negative tarot reading to a person who, I found out later, had demonic spirits attached to her: an incubus and a vampire demon. Those are the only two I know of. I severed contact with her because of the attack.

I did a past, present and future reading for her. The past card was the Four of Pentacles which symbolizes someone who is selfish in every way; taking and never giving; perhaps hoarding something like wealth for fear that it will disappear or someone will take it; someone who hates and resents change; someone who only has one view of the world; someone who has cut themselves off from everyone due to their selfishness and someone who is in denial of the things right in front of them. The present card was Temperence, but it was inverted, suggesting of someone who is not in harmony with anything; who has no equilibrium; no moderation of extremes or self restraint; I got the feeling that this person’s personality was manic and all over the place. Her future card was the Two of Swords suggesting that in her near future, she would be in a weird lock step dance with those around her trying to find some grace, but never getting there. She would never compromise and would still be in denial and those around her would find her hard, stubborn and unyielding.

She told me that I was in no way right about this. That my whole reading of her had been wrong. By this time, I had begun to feel the first of the attack so I knew that I was right and that she was totally in denial just as the cards said that she would be. She got very angry with me so I severed contact with her and suffered through her attack for the rest of the night and into the next morning.

I tried to sleep, but only had dreams of calendars floating through space. I did some research on dreams of calendars and discovered that calendars in dreams can signify a date looming that you’d rather not think about; can mean that you are a very organized person; also can mean a gradual reduction of worries. Since I’m not very organized I guess I’m going to go with a looming date I’m not looking forward to and/or a gradual reduction of worries. I have been meaning to perform the binding spell again since the last full moon, but haven’t done it. I had to get supplies and then I bought a black onyx and a rainbow moonstone ring so those had to be cleansed for 72 hours in the freezer so….I don’t know why I’m procrastinating. I should be on top of this so that the stalker will not move against me.
