The Goddess Kali and a Vision

goddess_kali_by_piyal_kundu1

I woke from an amazing vision this morning. The goddess Kali has given me a vision of what my life will be like in the future if I continue on this path of improving my physical health along with still exploring and learning about myself via my spirituality. It was an amazing, light filled and golden experience. I can’t explain the feeling. The reason I know that Kali gave it to me is because in my vision, I saw myself on the porch of my house at sunrise doing a sun salutation (yoga) and when I raised my arms, I saw a tattoo of her on my back and when I raised my arms it was like my arms and my body became part of her and we were both just sitting in the vastness and amazing golden morning. I felt my heart was filled with light and laughter and my pain was completely gone. I was really happy for the first time in my life and I knew that my happiness and contentment didn’t rely on anyone else but me and that gave me a feeling of wonderful power over myself that I’ve never really known. I think she gave me this as an encouragement to keep going the way I have started. She is letting me know that I’m on the right path. Blessed Kali never fails to answer me or help me when I need her. Thank you blessed Mother, beautiful Creator and wondrous Goddess. I am in awe of you.

Candle-gazing to enhance scrying: an intermediate technique

Scrying and candles go together like peanut butter and jelly.  Candles provide the low, incandescent light that most scryers prefer.  The slow, flickering beam of the flame casts animated shadows on the reflective surface of a mirror or crystal.  The heat it generates soothes and relaxes the body.  And aesthetically speaking, there is simply nothing better than a candle or lamp flame for evoking a spiritual, mystical atmosphere in a room where magical work is taking place.

But did you know that you can deliberately use your trusty altar candles as a trance induction device?  This technique has been known in the East for centuries, as part of the discipline known as tratakam, or yoga of the fixed gaze.  It is defined as sustained, single-pointed focus on an internal or external point.  The practice helps to improve concentration, access altered states, and achieve inner sight.  Candle-gazing in particular is thought to stimulate the pineal gland, the light-sensitive “third eye” which is linked with clairvoyance.

I first discovered this technique would work for scrying in the somewhat unlikely setting of a strip-mall yoga center.  The class was what I call the “hatha-plus” variety.  We did mostlyasana (physical poses), but now and then the teacher would sneak in a bit of her more esoteric knowledge.  One day, after we had completed our asana sequence, the teacher passed out tea lights and informed us we would be trying a candle-gazing meditation before settling down for our final resting pose.  The students each sat in a seated position, palms resting on knees, with the candle resting on the floor a few inches in front of the feet.  With a straight back and neck, we cast our eyes downward to settle upon the wick of the candle.  The teacher dimmed the lights, then walked around the room and lit each candle.  Immediately a soothing orange glow filled my field of vision.  The teacher began to lead a rhythmic breathing exercise, and invited us to alternately open and close our eyes.  When my eyes were open and gazing at the candle, I felt blissfully absorbed by the flame.  With my eyes closed, I could still see the after-image of the candle and feel its light and heat, but there was also a welcome darkness, pregnant with images and meaning.  I opened my eyes for another breath, then slipped back into the darkness.  The room I was in disappeared and my sense of time dissolved.  I didn’t snap out of it until I heard the instructor abandon her usual clouds-and-honey yoga teacher voice for a sterner tone:   “Okay, we’re done working with the candles now.  We have ten minutes left in class.  Please move to your mats and prepare for shavasana.”  Oops.

The effects of the trance gradually wore off as I lay there on my mat, but spectacular visions continued to play out on the inside of my eyelids.  Of course, since yogic meditation discourages wandering thoughts, I spent the rest of class trying to banish these “distractions.”  It wasn’t until later that I realized that this simple candle meditation had allowed to me to reach a faster, deeper, more visual trance state than I had thus far been able to achieve by scrying alone, and that it might be helpful to hijack the technique for my scrying practice.  Incidentally, I no longer have a regular practice of Eastern yoga, mostly because I’m lazy and don’t really like to break a sweat, but also because I don’t always find it to be compatible with the Western esoteric systems I use.  Nevertheless, I’m grateful for the time I have spent studying yoga, because it’s helped me to develop concentration, feel more comfortable in my physical body, and perceive and direct my subtle energy.

Want to try this method?  Here’s some instructions.  (Keep in mind that I’m not a yoga teacher, nor is this method strictly yogic–it’s just a personal practice that I’m sharing because it gets good results.)

So, you’ll need a candle or lantern, a chair (or cushion for the floor), your favorite scrying medium (I generally use a crystal ball ’cause I’m old school like that) and a surface in front of you to rest it on.  Light the candle, and make sure you have something non-flammable to set it down on.  (Because nothing kills a psychic buzz like accidentally burning your house down.) While you can do this in exercise in pitch darkness, I find that the contrast creates too much eyestrain.  So I recommend lighting a few other candles around the room or having another dim light source going at the same time.

Next, sit up straight with your scrying medium directly in front of you.  Place the candle in the center of your line of sight, in front of the speculum.  (You can always move it away to the side when you’re ready to scry).  Once you’re all situated, do whatever you usually do to prepare for divination: ground and center, set your intention, cast your circle, invoke your guides, whatever.  Now begin taking some yogic breaths.  This is deliberate, deep, and rhythmic breathing. (Plenty of tutorials online if you need a refresher.)  Breathe as long as you need to feel your body relax and your mind to begin to clear.  As you continue to breathe steadily, fix your attention on the candle flame and blink naturally.  (If your ocular muscles start to strain or your eyes begin to water, then you’re doing it wrong.  Relax.)  See the flame of the candle, feel its warmth spreading out, observe its tiny movements.  Visualize two beams of yellow light, one from each of your open eyes, traveling out to the candle to form a triangle.  Light from the candle, the apex of the triangle, is traveling back along these invisible paths to your eyes and into your brain.  A third beam appears, going from the candle to your third eye, bisecting the triangle.  When the light reaches the space between your eyes, it spreads out and massages the area with light.  This is a breath-linked practice, so if at any time you get distracted, go back a step and focus on the pattern of your breathing.

The next step is to coordinate the blinking of your eyes to your breath.  The next time you breathe in, intensify your gaze ever so slightly and draw in the light, as if you were hoarding it for later.  As you breathe out, close your eyes.  If you’ve been gazing at the flame for any length of time at all, you’ll notice a “burn in” effect–the shape of the fire will still be visible between your closed eyelids.  Open your eyes as you draw another breath.  Then close them, continuing to gaze at the “phantom” flame.  Continue for a set number of repetitions, or, if you’re not a counter, until you feel your consciousness begin to shift.  Now gaze at the candle for two breaths (in and out, then in and out again), and rest your eyes for a count of two.  Do this for a little while, then shift to three breaths.  As the space between open-eye periods gets longer, more complex images may begin to appear in the darkness.  (By the time I get up to three breaths, I’m usually spaced, but you could try a longer count if you like.)  When you feel ready, or when your inner vision begins to awaken, set the candle aside and take up your bowl, mirror, or crystal.  As you gaze at it, allow your faculty of sight to gently transfer to its surface.  If your preferred method is fire scrying or closed-eye scrying, then you’re all set to go already, you lucky mofo.

Well, I hope this has been helpful.  If you’ve tried this candle-gazing technique or something similar, I’d be very interested to hear how it went in the comments.

Blessings,

M

The Scrying Bowl

I used a green candle earlier, which was anointed and dedicated to St. Lucy, to scry and try to find out things unseen to me: I needed to see if someone is working against me in the spiritual realm and if they were, I wanted to find out who it was. I didn’t get much, but I have only tried to scry a couple of other times. It’s a form of divination and requires intense focus so that your mind doesn’t wander. I included this blogpost because I found it very helpful. I hope you do as well.

Blessed Be.

Voodoo Ancestor Elevation

Ancestor Elevation
The Ancestors are very important to us. Through all of them, we were created. They guide us, help us, clear obstacles, and form the base of all Afro Caribbean traditions. It is important to create and maintain a good relationship with them in order to find success in life. Accordingly, I am posting an elevation ceremony for your ancestors which you can do at home.

Elevating the ancestors helps them immensely. It clears their paths and helps them. When you help them, they will be able to find it easier to help you. Elevating them gives them more power which in turn they will use to bless you. As your ancestors are elevated, you will find that things come easier, you have fewer obstacles, have more insightful dreams, and reach your goals much easier.

What you will need:
•7 small “emergency” white candles (sometimes referred to as utility candles)
•A white rosary
•A meal for the seventh day
•A glass of water
•7 bricks
•Holy Water
Some people prefer to do this for 9, 11, 13, or 21 days. For that you will need to increase the number of candles and bricks. You can also alternately use a seven-day white candle.

First, you should set aside a space to do this. If you have an ancestral altar, it is very appropriate to do it there. If you do not, you can set aside a little corner in your home to do it.

You should say a humble prayer to God. All things come after God. Light your white candle, and pray. Then pray to your ancestors, call the names of those you know and for those you don’t know say “To all those ancestors that I know and do not know, to all of those for whom I prayed and didn’t pray, to all those I greeted and did not greet”. You should pray for their – and your – spiritual elevation, for the removal of obstacles, and for connection to them.

You should spill some water on the ground three times for each ancestor you call, and three times for those you do not know. Some people will place photos nearby to remind them of different ancestors, others do not.

Now consecrate your rosary in service to the ancestors. Baptize it with holy water to serve all of your ancestors with it. Pray the rosary with faith and devotion. Know that your ancestors are all around you.

Place a brick down as you state that you are elevating your ancestors. Place the white candle and the glass of water on top of the brick. Repeat this procedure for seven days straight, each day laying a new brick on top of the old one.

On the seventh day, make your food offering to your ancestors, and thank them for listening to you. Make this process a habit. You will find that your luck will improve, you will have revelatory dreams, and that obstacles disappear. Don’t forget your ancestors. You can talk to them daily. You don’t need to talk to them only at an altar, you can speak to them while you drive your car, walk the dog, or cook your meals.

Another Dream of Worms and a Dream of Anointing.

I have had another dream of worms. This time, I dreamed I was looking at myself in the mirror yet again, when I saw two horizontal lines of worms crawling under my skin: one going left the one below it going right. I reached up to my eye and pulled one out. This time, it was black with a little white eye. In this dream, I also went to the doctor and asked if these worms could be transmitted via breast milk to my daughter since I was still nursing and the doctor said yes.

I have no idea what this dream means or any other of the worm dreams I have been having lately. If anyone reads this and can enlighten me I would sure love the help.

The night before I had the last worm dream, I dreamed that I was anointed with golden oil from a white chalice. I don’t remember seeing anyone, but I feel like I was kneeling. I remember seeing the oil come out of the chalice towards my face. I don’t remember feeling it on my face or hair, but woke from the dream knowing that it had covered me.

Dream of A Bad Spirit Or Out Of Body Experience

I just had a strange thing happen during my nap with my daughter.

Let me preface this experience by saying that during my meditation today, I feel that I went further than I ever have before towards meeting my spirit guide. During meditation, I believe I heard his voice for a second saying something like, “Do you really want to go back and forth…”. That’s all I got was that fragment. Right after that, I saw a narrow mirror come down in front of my face and I thought I saw my own reflection, but it was more like seeing myself only as a man. A man with long straight blonde hair. Also, I think he was smiling and I think he winked at me.

Ever since I have started the mediation with Lillian Eden, I have felt like my crown chakra has been sort of floating on the top of my head. Like I could take it off if I wanted to. I have felt also like my spirit has been trying to leave my body of it’s own accord. I have to admit, I have been looking forward to the part of the meditation where I feel like my body is floating. However, today, I felt not only like I was floating, but also I got very nauseous as well for no apparent reason.  I did some research on out of body experiences and found out that the floating feeling followed by nausea is common when the spirit is trying to rise from the body.

Moving forward to what happened a little while ago: I had laid down with my daughter for our nap. I haven’t been sleeping very well for the past few days. It has been a really light sleep. It was the same for our nap today. I drifted into a dream of being in an upstairs apartment that was roughly L-shaped. It had two walls that were completely windows from floor to ceiling with one bedroom in what seemed to be a living area (the bed was raised above the living room on a loft style platform) and the other around the L-corner in an actual separate room. There was a low bed on the floor in the bedroom on which I had laid down to sleep. I was laying on my back. I began to get the floating/nausea feeling like my spirit was trying to leave my body when a name came into my head. The name was Peter.

Coincidentally (or maybe not), a few years ago, I had been hardcore praying for a man named Peter. I prayed for him for several years without ever meeting him. I felt as though God had put him on my heart, so I prayed and prayed and prayed for him. This man, Peter, whom I prayed for, passed away a few years ago apparently due to a drug overdose. He had been severely and chronically depressed for many years. I found this out after he passed.

In the dream, I felt that this person, Peter, was the same person whom I had prayed for in my waking life. I called out his name softly, “Peter.”. Immediately, I felt as if my body started to spin and I got really hot. I felt as if the heat was coming up through my back and making it’s way towards the front of my body. It came on suddenly like a hot flash. So during the spinning and the sudden heat I saw behind my closed eyes the words, “HE MADE IT. HE MADE IT. HE MADE IT. “. I told him quietly that I wished that I had been able to meet him while he was still alive. I also told him for some reason that I knew he had enjoyed that playground over by his mother’s house when he had been a boy. I kept seeing the words, “HE MADE IT,” being repeated over and over behind my eyes with the addition of, “HE HAS PASSED. HE HAS PASSED,” repeated as well. I felt as though this meant that the man, Peter, whom I thought I was talking to had passed on to the other side and that this entity with whom I was having this experience was not the Peter whom I had prayed for.

The next thing I did, was to tell this spirit, “You must let me go in Jesus’ name” Then the heat got markedly hotter. As if someone had just turned up the dial to “extra hot”. I started to pant in my dream because the heat was burning me. At that point, I came out of my dream and opened my eyes to find that my body really was hot and I was very dizzy and had that floating feeling again. I felt somewhat startled, but not too scared. Right now, I just feel that I had an encounter with some spirit which did not have my best interests at heart. It could be that I had an out of body experience by accident. This has happened before. It happened with the man, Peter, whom I had prayed for.

Dream of Waking To See A Broken Christmas Tree In My Bed

Last night, I dreamt that I was in my bed asleep with my daughter.  I saw everything in my room as it normally is with every detail. I woke up and looked to my right (my daughter sleeps to the right of me) and saw her asleep. I saw the window by the bed and then my gaze drifted down from there to see that there had been one of those little fake Christmas trees sitting on my bed. I wondered how it had gotten on the bed and then noticed that all of the branches had fallen off and were laying on the bed in disarray. The root was still intact, however, and sitting in the stand.

I have been trying to research on the internet what this dream might mean, but I haven’t been able to find anything so far. There isn’t much on dreaming about Christmas trees.

Black and White, Metal Teeth, Vultures, Cats and Several Wars- Dreams

Last night, I had three dreams that I remember.

In the first one, I was with my daughter in a room with a small, rectangular window at the bottom of the wall near the floor. We both laid down on our tummies on the floor to look through the window. It was just large enough to get your arm through. What we saw on the other side were at first some kittens and then some larger cats. My daughter was the first to reach through the window to try and pet the cats. I reached through then and petted a cat that was black and white striped. The cat seemed to like the attention for a minute and then turned it’s face to me and I saw a sneer and then it tried to bite me. I pulled my daughter’s hand back through the window so she wouldn’t get bitten. I then noticed that all the cats didn’t have the regular looking cat teeth. There were lots of little pointed teeth and they looked like they were made of metal. They were very tiny like the size of needles. My daughter and I then got up off the floor. I picked her up and tried to get out of the room, but it was full of her toys and I kept tripping on them trying to get to the door. I never made it out of that room, though I did get close to the door.

The second dream I had is a bit less clear. I remember first there was a factory with some people working in it who felt as if they were slaves. I saw it from the outside and there were what looked like storage silos in a circle formation sitting on top of huge supporting beams. Like the ones that support water towers. It seems that they were making beer or something similar. I think someone told me that the storage tanks held humans and that they humans were slowly disintegrated within the storage tanks above and put into the beer.

The next thing I remember is the storage tanks being lifted off by something that looked like helicopters only a lot larger. I looked up to see the storage tanks suspended in the air by these huge flying machines and the liquid that was in them was spilling out all over everything below. There were also all kinds of carrion birds flocking around the suspended tanks and sitting on them.  They were also flocking down below on the ground wherever the liquid had pooled. In particular, I remember seeing a flock of huge vultures sitting all over the top of one of the suspended storage tanks. They didn’t appear to be eating anything, but they seemed to be waiting for something. One vulture was significantly larger than the others. It was black and white and was staring at me.

In the next dream I remember there was a war. It seemed that this war had been going on for generations. Always a force from another dimension would invade and conquer the people in this world I saw. At first, they came from the water. Some looked naked and some looked frozen. The second invasion came from some people who claimed to be a family, but were really some weird kind of incestuous cult. Finally, there was a redheaded woman who came over from the other side to speak with my father about mounting a final offensive so that the city would not be taken again. My father was hesitant to follow her advice, but she was a general from the next army that was about to invade. The dream ended before I knew if he took her advice. I do, however remember that there were some human sacrifices. I saw some women hanging naked and upside down from trees with their long hair swaying. I remember people running amok in the city and that there was cannibalism. This is all I remember of this dream.

Dream of the Conveyor Belt of Body Parts and Yoda On A Shoulder

Last night, I dreamt that I was in a factory of some kind. I was standing in front of a conveyor belt where there were passing in front of me the lower torsos of women. They were upside down as if they had been cut in the midsection and flipped upside down so that they could fit neatly on the conveyor belt. Every one of the lower torsos had had their genitalia removed. Their legs were moving around wildly as if they were still connected to their bodies. What I saw between the legs looked like butchery. It was all blood dripping and wiggling legs.

In the other part of my dream, I was in a dry desert area. A very large man was standing in front of me with a person sitting on his shoulder facing backwards. This person looked like Yoda. The Yoda person was speaking to me about universal spiritual truths and a bible based on the Star Wars philosophies.
