Invocation of the Goddess Kali

I found this article on The Way of The Witch website. They have much more information to check out. I highly recommend going there.

Invoking the goddess Kali

Kali, also called Black Mother, is a powerful Hindu goddess known for bringing about endings and transformation.  “The death of the old makes way for creation of the new,” she reminds us.

An energetic presence I once resisted, I’ve now come to embrace Kali and the forward moving, forceful power she brings. Her energy is exceptional for clearing away blocks and stagnation.  She will push you to end unproductive and destructive cycles and clear the way for new paths.

Those who choose to call on Kali for assistance will likely find that she rarely shows up in a subtle way.  Instead she manifests like a bolt of lightning ready to strike your core and shake you into awareness (a true gift if you’re really ready to embrace some serious change)! Her presence will no doubt propel you to find your courage, assess your life path, and delve head first into the great unknown.  She tells us, “We must surrender our fears in order to transform,” as she purposefully highlights what we hide from ourselves then connects us to the source of our deepest inner strength.

As with all beings you wish to assist you, call on this goddess by speaking her name and inviting her into your space using the mantra (or something similar) “goddess Kali, I invoke you.” Don’t forget to ground and center yourself before this one, as she has a tendency to throw people off balance!  Be sure to hold a clear intention of what it is you are seeking assistance for and allow time to fully integrate her energy into yours before thanking her and ending your session together.  You may well find that her energetic presence is with you for weeks and sometimes longer, depending on what she is assisting you with.

As always, may your gifts work toward your highest good, and the highest good of all involved.

Thank you Kali!
Namesté

I also found this. It’s not strictly an “invocation”, so to speak, but when I was in a lot of serious emotional pain I read this out loud and it helped. So, I thought it might help someone else, too.

Tarot Card of the Day: Two of Swords (Time To Make a Decision)

two of swords

From my personal diary:

In this card we see a woman standing in a green robe with her hood over her head so that we son’t see much of her face. She holds two swords crossed in front of her. The two swords are identical showing that she has  a balanced mind. She faces a white swan who sits high above her in a very twisty tree. Directly in front of the swan, hanging from the tree branch, is a red heart hanging from a piece of red thread. It seems as though either the swan is offering her heart to the woman or that that is the woman’s heart hanging from the tree and she must get past the swan to retrieve it.

There is another white swan close behind the woman. It is standing on the ground with its face upturned to her and seems to be offering her a flower, but because her back is turned, she doesn’t see this offering. It could be a willful turning away or simply something she does not notice because her attention is focused on what is in front of her.

This woman has a decision to make, but she is currently at an impasse, She either doesn’t want to make the decision, in which case she would be in denial. On the other hand, it could be because she can’t see what is behind her, she may not have all the information she needs to make her decision. The swords represent that her decision must be made using her logic and intellect rather than her intuition and emotion.

At the top of the card, there is a waxing moon (not waning) showing that whatever decision she makes will form a new beginning for her. There is a need for a truce here so that a decision can be made logically and intellectually. This woman needs to realize that she cannot avoid a situation by not making a decision one way or the other. She may be in denial of her emotions about this situation and although this calls for logic and her intellectual gifts,s he would be wise to unblock her emotions and thereby come out of her denial. The Goddess is all around her represented by the two swans, the twisted tree which is flowering and the new moon above, but she cannot see all of this because all of her attention is focused on the stalemate at hand.

The stalemate or impasse may also be her attempt to protect her self from some unknown factor. She needs more information in order to dig deeper so that she can make her decision to find out the truth of the situation. However, this will require a temporary lowering of her swords to do that.

Three Things About Imbolc

While many were watching to see whether the groundhog Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring in the annual ritual Monday, pagans around the world were having their traditional Imbolc festivities. The festival, which falls on Feb. 2, celebrates the first signs of spring.

For pagans, or Wiccans, in the Northern Hemisphere, Imbolc (pronounced “im’olk”) takes place during some of the coldest and darkest times of the year, when people are longing for the warmth of spring and summer. Still, the festival is meant to recognize the small seasonal changes that are starting to appear.

“It’s a time of year when you can physically begin to see the shift,” Bo Nelson, a Wiccan from Wisconsin, told International Business Times. “Sure, it is still cold, and here in Wisconsin we got the most snow we have seen all year hours after our celebration. But the days are getting longer and there is hope and excitement that spring is soon to come.”

For those unfamiliar with Imbolc, below are three answers to common questions surrounding the pagan festival:

What is the history behind Imbolc?

Imbolc originated as a Gaelic festival that celebrated the beginning of spring. Until today, it falls at the midpoint between the winter and spring equinox, usually around Feb. 1. The word “imbolc” refers to sheep’s milk in Old Irish. During ancient times, lactating ewes represented one of the first signs of spring.

Imbolc is also called Brigid’s Day, referring to the Celtic goddess of fertility (later canonized in Catholic tradition) who was reborn on Imbolc from the crone of winter to the maiden of spring. Brigid represents regeneration, livestock and light. Pagans honor her memory during this time by lighting candles and hearth fires and celebrating the sun’s rays.

What are the rituals associated with the festival?

Pagans tend to celebrate Imbolc with rituals that focus on spiritual purification and dedication. Wiccan priestess Selena Fox of Circle Sanctuary, a Wiccan church in Wisconsin, suggests performing purification rites to cleanse one’s body, thoughts and emotions. Other rituals include participating in torchlight processions to jump-start the upcoming agricultural season, lighting candles to represent the return of the sun, and starting a sacred fire in honor of goddess Brigid’s sacred flame.

While some rituals take place in group setting, Imbolc celebrations also encourage personal reflection.

“It is a time when we as individuals begin to make our own personal goals as well, and we talk about the ‘seeds’ (both symbolic and literal) we tend to plant in the coming year,” Nelson said, describing how common topics of conversation in his community involve talking about summer vacations and plans for their gardens. “I think we naturally spend all winter looking forward and making plans for the spring and summer, but Imbolc is the time when we first begin to put those goals into motion,” he said.

Like other pagan holidays, there’s not one single way to celebrate. Nelson’s family draws upon the candle tradition by collecting candle wax from his family’s home altars and from candles burned during other festivals throughout the year.

“At Imbolc we will take the chunks of wax and we will carve in words or wishes for ourselves, our family and our community for the upcoming year. We then melt all the wax down in a single pot and create new candles out of them to light in honor of the festival.  The candles will be lit regularly from then until spring returns,” he said.

For Heather Greene, the managing editor of a pagan news site, the Wild Hunt, Imbolc is an elusive holiday.

“For me, Imbolc is an honoring of what’s not present yet. It represents the words yet to be spoken, the potential in our spirits, the ‘calm before a storm’ of growth, the quiet before the show, and the unknown baby before its birth,” Greene told IBTimes. “Imbolc’s beauty is in its waiting and not knowing.”

How is it related to Groundhog Day and Candlemas?

Imbolc is considered a precursor to two February holidays: Groundhog Day and Candlemas Day. The latter is a Christian tradition that originated in the fifth century to commemorate Mary’s ritual purification 40 days after the birth of Jesus Christ. At the time, children would be taken to the temple in Jerusalem and presented to God by their parents.

In early Christianity, Candlemas was a day when candles were brought to the church to be blessed. Candles served a practical and spiritual purpose. Not only were they light and heat sources during winter but they also reminded believers of Christ and the “light” he brought to Earth. Clergy would distribute the blessed candles. Their longevity represented how long and cold winter would be.

Groundhog Day also shares similarities with Candlemas and Imbolc. The secular festival which takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, among other locations across the state, stems from German lore, where a sacred badger can determine the coming of spring.

Simple Blessing Spell and Drawing a Line in the Spiritual Sand

~Three Times Blessed~

Be blessed.

Be blessed.

Be truly blessed.

By these triple words.

By this triple touch.

Be blessed by the Goddess.

By growth.

By fulness

By the dark and by the light.

By Maiden, Mother and Crone.

Be blessed.

Be blessed.

Be three times blessed.

By the threefold Goddess be blessed.

I used this recently. Let me recount why. I have recently renewed a friendship from high school so we have been texting and talking on the phone quite a bit lately. In one of our conversations, she confided to me that her sister’s husband had touched all three of her girls sexually. He was trying to rape them, but they are all such strong girls that they knew what he was doing was wrong and shoved him off. Then they told their parents. Not surprisingly, their dad wanted to take the man out into the bayou and feed him to the alligators. Their mother, my friend, even though she is very protective of her children, forgave him when they had a conversation about it. She knows that pedophilia is a sickness of the mind and spirit so she was willing to forgive him, but made it very clear that he was NOT to do it again. Well, that same night, he tried again. He is now no longer welcome around them and he never comes around. Honestly, I was very surprised that they didn’t press charges and I told her as much. She told me that since her daughters were so young at the time that she didn’t want them to have to go through the pain of a trial and having to recount their experiences over and over ad nauseum. While I can understand that, I told her that someday he would go on to molest other girls and that he probably had a long list of girls he has already molested and who’s mother’s felt exactly the same way she did about their children and that is why he was out and able to abuse hers.

Since I am living in a house that she and her husband own and her family lives in the same town I do, I asked her how likely I was to get a visit from her sister’s husband. She responded that they actually live a couple of hours away and don’t come here normally unless there is a special occasion. Well, I got a visit last week from this sister who brought along her daughter who is about the same age as my daughter. My first thought was, “Oh God, he has probably already gotten to her.” As a survivor of sexual abuse, I am aware that I have a knee-jerk reaction to any hint of sexual abuse so I tried to reign that in. During the time they were here, I watched her and knew fairly quickly that she was at least partially autistic. She tip-toe walks; she can’t sit still for more than a few minutes at a time; she doesn’t speak much; and has absolutely no impulse control. I realize that she’s only three and impulse control is somewhat touch and go at that age, but what I’m talking about is that she came in my house and literally dragged nearly everything I have out from every single room. I couldn’t sit down to talk with her mother for more than five minutes at a time for having to follow her around and pick up after her or keep her from hurting herself. Her mother didn’t seem to have a problem with any of this. She looked at me like she pitied me.

At one point during their time here, I had settled the two girls in my bedroom on my bed watching a Disney animated movie. My daughter suddenly comes out and says, “Mommy, A— is naked.” I went into my bedroom to find her nude except for her shirt laying on my bed. When I asked her why she said she was “ready to take a nap”. This really disturbed me not only because it seemed so normal for her to do, but also because her mother seemed yet again to have absolutely no problem with this behavior. Again, I realize she’s only three and that three year olds love to be naked. My daughter does, but for her to JUST take off her shorts and panties and get in my bed like it was a matter of course worried me. I was going to speak with her mother about it, but I didn’t have time. Right after this incident, her mother packed her up and left.

I cried myself to sleep that night. I didn’t have any proof, but my gut instinct was telling me that that little girl was living a miserable life. Not only is she ONLY three years old AND autistic, but her father was most likely molesting her already at such a tender age. My mind went down a very long list of possible mental disorders (thank you Abnormal Psych) and my heart ached because I knew that the love she felt was twisted and warped. The next day, with a swollen face and still thinking about the incident, I prayed and prayed about it. Then a cried some more. This time not because I was sad, but because I was angry. I was angry with her dad first for what I was thinking he had done to her and secondly, I was angry with her mother for seemingly being the enabler.

I searched online to find a spell to bless and protect her. I found this one and some others that I liked among which I really like this one which draws a very strong line in the spiritual sand saying “if you do thusandsuch this will happen”. Also, it has a “bounce back” feature that I like so that in case he does more harm to her it will come back to him in spades. I will post it here for y’all just in case someone feels the need to use it. The last three sentences I changed to fit my own situation. The original one had the f-bomb in it, which I don’t like to use in spells.

Warning Spell

Blood turn black and flesh turn blue.

I will curse you if you force me to.

By the left hand and the unclean food.

I will curse your lies.

I will call down a plague of flies.

Blood go black and flesh go blue.

Evil from A— and back to you.

Her soul clean and yours on fire.

You touch her and you will get burned, liar.

I normally don’t advocate using spells like this since it is rather dark and threatens a curse, but in cases like this where the perpetrator is unrepentant, I feel that justice needs to be served. I recommend doing this in the middle of a salt circle or cast a circle and a pentacle with your wand/finger. This is what I did. I don’t have an actual wand, so I cast the circle and pentagram with my finger and visualized them strongly so that I could see them before my physical eyes. After that I focused all of my anger, rage and hurt into the words of the spell and thought about A—-‘s father and herself. Basically, I put all my energy and emotion into it, which is necessary for any spell to be effective. I also visualized a white translucent light around A— to protect her and a thick, golden, braided rope coming from her crown chakra up to the heavens to connect her with The Source and then I visualized thick tree roots coming from her feet and growing way down into the earth and wrapping themselves around the center of it to ground her. I have also added her to my daily prayers right after I pray for myself and my own daughter.

I thought about reporting this to DHS, but I have no actual proof of wrongdoing and I am living in a house that belongs to my friend who is her sister. I don’t know how she would take it if I reported him to DHS. I don’t plan on being her long so the first thing I do when I move will be to call and at least report him so that the paperwork will be on his record.

Spells I Have Used

I thought I would make a list of all the spells I have used so far (and how to use them) just so that they would be in one place if anyone needs to use them. I have also made a page for them as well and will keep it updated every time I use a new spell.

Blessings Be!

~Protection and Binding Spell

Ingredients:

1. Black Candle or dark candle (There were no black candles at the +store I was in so I got a black cherry one. It was the darkest one I could find. It doesn’t have to be expensive. A 99 cent candle will do just fine. Also, be sure to carve the name of the person you want to bind into the candle.)

2. Black or dark stone (I didn’t have a black stone on hand, but I had a brown one with red undertones, which I was told would work just fine.)

3. Sea Salt

4. White thread, yarn or embroidery yarn

5. Patchouli incense or white sage (I couldn’t find Patchouli incense or white sage, so I bought some that was sort of earthy smelling. It was similar to Patchouli.)

6. A picture of the person you wish to bind. (You need a picture or something of theirs. Something they owned.)

Twelve hours before you do the spell, put the stone and the salt in the freezer. The cold will cleanse them. Be sure to leave them there for at least twelve hours.

I did the ritual on the last night of the dark of the moon. The Priestess told me that this was a very powerful time and that it would not happen again for a couple of years. Also, that I needed to do the spell before midnight.

After the twelve hour mark and before midnight, get all of the ingredients together and place on a table. Use the salt and put down a salt barrier around yourself and the table. DO NOT BREAK THE CIRCLE ONCE YOU HAVE LAID IT. if you leave the circle or someone enters the circle you will have to start over.

Light your candle and light the incense. DO NOT BLOW EITHER OUT. They both must burn all the way down. If you are carving the person’s name in your candle, do it BEFORE you light it.

Once they are both lit, focus on a white light of protection around you so bright that it takes up the whole circle. So bright that when you open your eyes you have to squint. (What I did was imagine the light coming up from the salt forming a protective “bubble” around me. Then, I visualized my own light coming out of me and focused on making it really strong and bright.)

Then focus on the picture of the person you want to bind. Focus on their face and body and imagine jail or prison bars around them or something similar. (I took my finger *remember you can use your finger as a wand* and felt energy coming out of it and drew bars with my finger over his face and body. I drew so many that he was completely obscured.) You want to build a wall or a fortress around that person.

Then, call the corners (quarters). This is a really simple way to do it:

I call upon East, the direction of Air.

I call upon North, the direction of Earth.

I call upon West, the direction of my ancestors and Water.

I call upon South, the direction of Fire.

I ask that you aid me in these protection workings.

Then, call upon Kali (KAH-li) (If and only if you are binding a man. Kahli is the goddess and protector of women and hates men.) Ask her to aid you. This is where you have to improvise. I told Kahli that I was in fear for my life was being threatened and that I feared for my daughter as well. You must be especially gracious to her. She will hear you! Just tell her what is going on and why you are asking for and need her protection. This is my first encounter with her, but I got the feeling that we shouldn’t be asking her for frivolous things. If my life and my daughter were not being threatened, I don’t think I would have petitioned her. I could be wrong, but this was my impression of her.

Once that is done, take the picture and thread and wrap the thread around the picture until you can’t see any part of the picture. While you are doing this, say:

(Name), with the protection of Kali, you will not harm me or anyone I love.

MEAN IT WHEN YOU SAY IT!! Repeat this over and over until the picture is covered. (I wound up having to fold the picture several times because, as I wrapped it more and more with the thread, the picture would warp and was hard to handle. I figured it would be better just to keep folding it smaller, rather than creating frustration and losing my focus. Also, if I ever do this spell again, I’m getting white yarn. I had white sewing thread which was very hard to deal with and took a long time to cover the picture. The time wouldn’t have been an issue if my daughter hadn’t been awake, but she was and there is only so much time a two year old, even a well behaved two year old, can be still.)

Once that’s done, hold the bound picture in your hands for about five or ten minutes since you will likely be upset and nervous. (I wasn’t nervous, but I was angry. I was livid, so I had to take a few moments to regain my composure and to let the anger dissipate.) While you are holding the picture in your hands, focus on your child/children/home/yourself. Do the white light protection again.

Once that’s done, close the corners (quarters):

East, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

North, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

West, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

South, thank you for aiding me tonight. Go if you must. Stay if you will. Hail to you and farewell.

It is most important to say a gracious thanks to Kali. Bid her sincerest thanks and fare thee well. Tell her to go or stay, but that you would prefer she watch over you as long as she deems necessary.

Once, all that is done, you can break the salt barrier. Put the binding somewhere in a box and seal it. Put it high up where it CANNOT BE TOUCHED.

After the binding is secured, then you need to put the stone somewhere that you can keep it on you at all times. Then, take at least a fifteen minute sea salt bath to cleanse your body of any negativity. After that, you will sleep like a ROCK.

If you have a sachet, put the stone in it and keep it under your pillow at night. During the day, keep it on you at all times. Put it in your pocket; on a chain; put it into a ring. Just keep it on you.

DO NOT BLOW THE CANDLE OUT. LET IT BURN ALL THE WAY DOWN.

~Simple Binding Spells

1. Write the person’s name on a piece of paper focusing on them, your relationship with them and everything that they have done to you. Put all of your anger into the writing of their name. Concentrate on it.  While you are writing, say this over and over: <name of person> I bind you from doing harm. Harm to yourself and harm to others. Keep focusing on that person while you are writing and chanting. Keep chanting while you fold the piece of paper over and over. Get it as small as it can go then put it in a waterproof ziploc baggie and then put the baggie in the freezer.

2. If you are feeling negative energy from a person and are having trouble thinking negative thoughts about them, you can write their name on a piece of paper. Focus on everything that has to do with your relationship with that person. Focus on your anger towards that person. Visualize putting all of your negative thoughts and anger into the writing of their name on the piece of paper. Then, you set it on fire while chanting: <Person’s name> I forgive you for everything you’ve done and I thank you for the lessons you have taught me. I now let you go.  You can burn it over your sink and then wash the ashes down the drain visualizing all of your negative thoughts and anger washing away with it or you can go outside and burn the paper and let the wind catch the ashes while visualizing all your anger and negative thoughts blowing away with the wind or you can burn it over a river/stream/ any body of running water and let the water take the ashes with it while visualizing all your anger and negative emotions washing away with the ashes. If you choose water, the water has to be running. It has to be going somewhere so that it can take the ashes away from you.  You can do this any time you are having trouble feeling negative thoughts towards someone or anger towards someone.  Like draws like, so keeping negative energies close to you will draw the same into your life. You don’t forgive someone for them, you do it for yourself so that you can have peace. Also make sure that you do the chant and forgive them while you are burning the piece of paper, otherwise it becomes dark magic, which you really don’t want to get into.

~Spell for Rebounding Negative Energy

Visualize yourself in the middle of my cast circle and pentacle and with three rings of purple light around me: one at my feet, one at my waist and one at my head. You can also cast your circle with salt if you so choose.

Say this:

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

So mote it be.

By dragon’s light this (insert month) January night I call to thee to give me your might.

By the power of three I conjure thee to protect all that surrounds me.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

(Now point wand/finger to the sky)

Terra, Ignis, Aqua all three.

Elements of astral I summon thee.

Earth by Divinity.

Divinity by Earth.

Give my enemy the power to see the strength of the elements by my side.

No rules magic I shall abide.

Now when My enemy meets his downfall this spell shall have no power at all.

In no way shall this spell reverse or place upon me any curse.

So mote it be.

(now lower wand/finger)

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

So mote it be.

Then close the circle and thank the spirits for attending you and send them on their way with blessings. You can also tell the spirits to stay or go as they wish, but make sure to thank them politely for attending you.

~Protection Spell From Any Spirit or Demon

Cast your circle with the pentagram inside or cast your circle with salt.

All casters enter the circle.

Say this:

Hear me knights of past.

Knights of ancient law.

Hear me dead knights of an English tongue.

Hear me knights lost in battle whose blade did good.

Hear me knights of old.

Hear me knights of lost souls.

This night i invoke thee.

I summon thee to my arms aid.

Hear me knights.

A new cause be given.

Your body gone now spirit be.

Hear me dead knights I invoke thee.

By your spirit blade I invoke you.

By your might I invoke you.

By your spirit I invoke you.

Come now follow a new cause.

I summon thee.

Each of thee I enlist.

I invoke you dead knights lost.

Hear me and come to my aid.

Hear me and fight at my side.

Protect me from spirit’s harm.

Fight my battles I say to thee.

Hear me spirits of lost knights.

Come to my aid.

Come to my side.

Protect me from spirit’s harm.

Protect me from spirit’s light.

I invoke you.

I invoke you.

I invoke you.

I invoke you.

I invoke you.

Let my army be done.

Let it be.

Let it be.

After you say this make sure to close the circle and thank the spirits politely for attending you. Bid them to stay or go as they wish. You can tell them that you prefer them to stay to protect you as long as they see fit.

When I did this spell, I cast a circle/pentagram and did some more protections for myself before and after I said this spell. I will list them here just in case you want to do this as well.

Before the spell say this:

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

So mote it be.

By the dragon’s light on this <month> night I call to thee to give me your might.

By the power of three I conjure thee to protect all that surrounds me.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

After you say the spell and by way of closing your circle you can say this:

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

So mote it be.
