This Is Why They Burned Us

Rebelle Society

I give my blood to back to the Earth. Watching her drink it into her rich, dark soil. Feeding her with my elixir of life, the recipe tucked into the soft folds of my womb, held in the marrow of my bones for centuries.

This is why they burned us.

They did not understand how we didn’t fear death. How we could live more fully each time we bleed. Why we worshiped with reverence the cycles and rhythms of the earth. How we honored that sacred dance of the seasons mirrored in our own human flesh.

This is why they burned us.

We tender warriors of heart, keepers of the womb, protectors of the earth. Because our love for Nature and our devotion to Her scared them. For love that powerful strikes fear in the hearts of those who are unwilling to be soft, in those with ears that are closed to the heartbeat of the Earth. Who choose not to hear the love songs of Spirit all around us.

This is why they burned us.

Trying to domesticate and eradicate the wild in our bones. That emerges on the Full Moon. That seeks to howl and retch, scream and cry, sigh and sing life back into our bodies when they have become heavy or feel broken. Because we see the medicine in all things, the medicine all around, and we know that the purest medicine is the medicine within.

And medicine this strong can dismantle systems, bring authority to its knees, and is the embodiment of sovereignty.

This is why they burned us.

Because our worship is of no man, of no one church, of no one god. We call forth and invoke Spirit in all forms. Seeing God, Goddess, and Spirit in every plant, animal, and elemental being. Our palms and knees covered in dirt, as we sink ourselves onto the soil, finding our home, our holy place, our sanctuary in the wild.

This is why they burned us.

Because women in their bodies are a force of nature that cannot be tamed. We demand softening, reverence, and the type of integrity that comes from a wholehearted willingness to feel the connection to the whole world, to all living beings.

This is why even when they tried to burn us, we live on. As mothers, sisters, lovers, midwives, healers, artists, dancers, grandmothers, teachers, as all the flavors and forms of the Feminine. Because the whole world needs this medicine. Especially right now.

So answer the Wild Calling of your souls, sisters. Burn bright in your power, my loves. Give into your feral nature. Sing the songs of the ancient ones. Pour your blood, tears, and love into the Earth.

Do not fear. Let your heart flame be seen. For no flame of hate can burn as bright as the Love that you are.

You are holy.

You are whole.

Skrying Salve
This is a little different and sometime you need to switch it up. Add dandelion to 1 cup of olive oil. Infuse for a week then strain add to 2 ice cube sized beeswax chunks. Heat on low to very low. Melt the wax and mix in the oil. Once mixed, pour into a small glass jar. Allow to cool. Before each skrying session, anoint your eyelids with a small amount of salve. Please use with care.

On Managing Emotions and Why I Did Not Participate in the Hexing/Binding Ritual Against Donald Trump

emotions-word-collage

Regarding managing emotions, I count myself among many other people who struggle with this particular part of life. I had a graphic that I was going to post, but it seems as though it has gone missing along with so many other things I can’t seem to find in my house when I need them.

Anyway, the graphic goes something like this: As human beings we are vessels filled with all kinds of emotions, which is a good thing, in my humble opinion. It is the way we express our emotions and whether or not they are appropriate at the time/place we express them is the issue of the graphic.

An example: A parent with a 5-year-old child attempts to reason with their child about an action they have taken which the parent considers to be wrong (dragging the cat by one leg across the floor or by the tail; shouting at parent or other children; hitting or otherwise hurting another child are some examples of this). Of course, the child will be automatically on the defensive when/if the parent confronts the child about this behavior. The parent, in this instance has to choose what kind of emotion to display to their child: outright anger, which may lead to punitive punishment(s) or patience and calmness leading to a dialogue with the child which is done on their level of understanding so that the child understands that whatever action they have done was wrong and ways to figure out how to not make that mistake again. A parent may think that when this dialogue is done that their child understands and that the issue is done and that the child won’t make that same mistake again, however, that parent would be wrong. Studies have shown that the frontal lobe of the brain, which is the place where impulsiveness and understanding of the consequences of our actions live, does not fully mature until the mid- 20s. Here is a link to an MIT article explaining how this works. If and/or when the child repeats the same mistake over and over again can make the parent extremely frustrated and angry and this anger my overtake any previous ideas of speaking calmly with their child. The parent may resort to outright punishment (this may include time outs, spankings, or escalations of any kind of violence towards the child). (My belief is that any kind of violence towards a child, even spanking, is sort of a “gateway” to more and more mistreatment of the child. This is why I choose not to spank. I used to use time-outs, but that just fostered emotional distance between myself and my child. So, now, we use “time-ins” where we both sit quietly for about 5 minutes and talk about what we are feeling and what we can do that can further a healthy relationship between ourselves. Also, we discuss what behavior is inappropriate and what is appropriate depending on the circumstance. Always remembering to speak to my child in way that she can understand. Otherwise, I’m just speaking into the air, which provides further frustration for me and my child.)

Before any violence or yelling takes place towards the child (or any other person an individual may be having problems with), it behooves the person who is trying to manage their emotions in a healthy way to stop and take a breath or even walk away for a few minutes to try to get some perspective on what is really happening instead of having a knee-jerk emotional reaction. I’m not saying that emotions are bad. We were given emotions for a reason and in the right time and place, displaying one’s emotions is great and appropriate. For instance: I can’t watch two people get married, whether is man/woman, man/man, woman/woman or any other kind of marriage without tearing up a little or outright crying. It’s not that I’m sad. I just feel so happy at weddings and that is the way my emotion at that time is displayed and I feel that this is appropriate as long as I don’t go into some kind of loud wailing or do something else to take attention off the wedding and onto myself. That would be totally inappropriate.

Mostly the emotion I’m speaking of here is anger, but this can also be applied to thoughts which take us down the spiral into depression. When I worked in a Christian street ministry and taught bible study, I referred to this as “taking every thought captive to the obedience of the Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5) Even though, at that time, I used this method in a bible study setting it does apply to every day life even if one does not espouse the Christian faith. When a thought comes along about my past, for instance, I can choose to either entertain that thought or cast it aside and opt for a more positive and/or more healthy thought pattern. Sometimes we choose to wallow in depression. I can’t say that I haven’t done this. I have. I tend to have the most trouble with this at night after my daughter has fallen asleep. Since I don’t have anything to distract me, it’s easier for those damaging thoughts to creep in. Again, the challenge here is to choose which thoughts to entertain. This can be a very hard process and it takes some time for a person to recognize certain thoughts as damaging and/or unhealthy before that person can begin to stop the cycle and take hold of their thoughts and choose to move toward a healthier place mentally and emotionally.

I am challenged with this on a daily basis several times a day. It so happens that my biggest challenges are dealing with anger, depression and anxiety. I want to model healthy behavior for my daughter, but am not always successful. So when I am not, I have made it a priority to try to explain to her, in a way that she can understand, that I am sorry for my bad/inappropriate behavior and that I will do my best to get better.

I don’t think I’m alone in struggling with this. In my humble opinion, managing one’s emotions is one of the things our society as a whole is seriously lacking. We don’t have very many models to go by. In our culture of instant gratification, if we (as a collective) perceive that we are not getting what we want we tend to lose our collective shit and jump right over the fence into proverbial left field.

This brings me to Donald Trump. This person is not a good model for managing emotions. He displays such a lack of emotional control that he can seem to be petty and childish at times. I don’t watch him speak very often as I try to stay away from the “news” because it depresses me, but seriously, my five-year-old has better control of her emotional outbursts.  I’m not going to get into Trump-bashing, but suffice it to say: I did not vote for him.

A few days ago, on February 4th to be exact, there was a call for all witches or anyone who practices the magickal arts to perform a hexing and/or a binding on Donald Trump. I did not participate in that and here’s why.

  1. I subscribe to the belief of the universal law of “3 x 3”. Meaning, whatever energy you put out you get back times three, be it positive or negative. I don’t believe in “black” or “white” or “gray” magick. I believe it is the intent of the person performing whatever spell or ritual is done that makes it either dark, light or gray. Everyone has some darkness, some light and some gray areas. So again: intent is what matters here. If I had done a hexing or binding on Donald Trump, I would have invited that energy to come back and basically punch me in the face. Hard.
  2. I recently learned, after performing many binding spells, that whatever you bind is bound to you. A few years ago, out of desperation and fear for my life, I performed a binding ritual with a mirror or “bounce back” effect in it. Meaning that I bound the person from hurting me or my child and should that person attempt any harm towards me or my child that all the energy that was put into those actions or thoughts would, in effect, “bounce back” on that person. It’s sort of like a hex, but not overtly so because it all depends on how much negative energy that person puts out towards the caster of the binding spell. Now, after about 4 years, I realize that this person hardly ever leaves my thoughts. The hard part is that I do not want to think about this person, because I don’t want to draw that person’s thoughts towards me or my child. After some serious meditation on this issue and doing some research, I realized that as long as I keep this person bound with the spell, this person is bound to me because of the spell I did. I think it goes without saying that I do not, in any way, wish to bound in any sort of fashion (spiritual or otherwise) to Donald Trump. So, I left that alone.
  3. Whether for good or ill, Donald Trump is our president now. I believe that if he wasn’t meant to be in that position for some reason or other, that he would not be there. I don’t believe in coincidences or “luck”. I believe everything happens (or doesn’t happen) for a reason. I may not always understand that reason, but I don’t want to mess with what the universe has planned for Donald Trump. Also, and this may sound like it came directly from my mother, I believe that very soon he will have enough rope to metaphorically hang himself. I prefer to let him make his own messes and lie in his own bed rather than call on the spirits to do it for him. Again, I don’t want that energy to come back at me. I’m not judging anyone who participated. I think people, in general, should have the freedom to follow their beliefs. I follow mine. You follow yours. Live and let live.
  4. Finally, I don’t wish Donald Trump or his family any harm. I will, however, stock up on popcorn in anticipation of the day he makes his bed and then has to lay in it.

5 Awesome Beltane Celebration Ideas for Solitaries

Beltane is a time for fun, mythology, food, and happy indulgence. It is great to spend the day in the sun with those you admire. Group outings and coven experiences are wonderful this time of year.

BUT….

Groups and covens are not the only ones allowed to have all the fun. I have been a solitary for MANY years and I have yet to miss a Beltane celebration. Why should I? There are so many fun and inexpensive things to do. With or without a coven or group, you can have a blast.

The best part of going at it alone is, you don’t have to clear or coordinate your plans with anyone! Why? You call the shots!  There are no misunderstandings about when and where to meet. You don’t have to hear anyone complain about this that, and any other issue than may pop up. The only winer in the group is you, so if you can tolerate yourself you’re in business. *chuckle*

In this post I will take you through some of my favorite solitary Beltane activities. Many of these activities are flexible so you can include friends and family if you choose. So here we go!

1. Host a Solitary Beltane Tea.

beltane tea

We all know Beltane is the counter to Samhain where the veil once again thins and we are able to commune and communicate with our ancestors and departed loved ones. The practice of having a silent Dumb Supper during Samhain is very common. Why not extend that tradition to Beltane with its own twist?

Serve your tea as you would your Dumb Supper, just make it more colorful with spring flowers and your favorite tea foods and treats. This activity is flexible, invite others to join you if you like. Make sure you take time to fully connect and honor your ancestors and departed loved ones.

2. Get out in Nature.

beltane nature walk

This an inexpensive way to feel the energy Beltane has to spare. Go on a hike, walk in the park, or even visit a botanical garden. Anywhere you can see, listen, smell, and touch nature is a good place to visit. Find a place to sit and quietly meditate or just relax while you feel the breeze and listen to the birds.

Another idea (one of my favs), is include planting as part of your outdoor ritual. I am sure there are plenty of flowers, herbs, etc. you still want to get in the ground. Why not make planting your remaining seed, seedlings, and plants a part of your Beltane ritual? It’s perfect.

3. Attend a May Day Festival

beltane may day festival

Out here we have the annual May Day Faerie Festival at Spoutwood Farm. This is a great event where adults and kids dress up and everyone plays. There are drum circles, belly dancing, bubbles, and lots of faeries.

The nice thing about events like this is that you don’t have to attend with a barrage of friends and family in tow. You don’t even have to dress up. Just show up! Sometimes going alone gives you the best experiences. You meet new people, dance like nobody is watching, and play with the fae. Look for similar events in your area where you can get out and have a great time.

4. Stoke a “Bale” Fire.

beltane bale fire

To me Beltane is just not Beltane without Bon or Bale Fire. Don’t worry if you don’t have a large outdoor place to do this. You can use candles, your fireplace, or a small fire pit; whatever you have available will do. I usually use our outdoor fire pit, which is fairly small and fits nicely on our deck. Your fire can be big or small, either will do.

OH! Don’t forget to take the opportunity to do some fire gazing…

 5. Make a Beltane Craft

beltane craft

Crafts are a favorite in my home because I have a young heathen to entertain. Traditionally, I like to make head/hair garlands, and wreaths. The wreath is for the front door and the head garland I use for some Beltane Magick. Find a craft you have been itching to create and do it!

Making Beltane Special

It does not matter if you have a group to celebrate with or not. Beltane can be an enriching celebration when you get creative and try something new. Sometimes the best spiritual experiences are the ones we discover alone. There is no disruption, or distraction. It is only you and your ability to experience the energy of the moment.

An Extremely Strong Spell To Bind Your Enemies’ Feet

woman spell casting

BE WARNED: This spell is very dark and causes much suffering to the person it is placed upon and will eventually cause them to die. BE VERY SURE that you want to do this before you do it. I, in no way, am responsible for the effects of this spell on the caster or the person it is put upon. This spell causes so much suffering to the person it is placed upon that they will be too miserable and surrounded with calamity to even think about hurting you. Their emotional, mental and physical states will deteriorate. They will suffer financial hardships. Their lifelong friends will abandon them. Their family will abandon them. They will most likely attempt suicide and fail. The spirits who exact this spell will not let the person die until they have suffered for years.

WHAT YOU NEED:

1. Shoe box or small cardboard box.

2. Several yards of black ribbon.

3. A photo of the person on whom you want to place the spell.

4. A pair of chicken feet.

WORKING THE SPELL:

1. Write the name and birth date of the person on the back of the photo. This provides the spirits who will execute the spell an added connection to the person.

2. Place the photo of the person against the pair of chicken feet FACING OUTWARDS away from the chicken feet.

3. Take 1/3 of the length of black ribbon and tie the photo to the chicken feet.

4. Place the bundle of photo/chicken feet in the shoe box or cardboard box.

5. Put the lid on the box.

6. Take what is left of the black ribbon and tie up the box with it.

7. Bury the box 3 feet deep at a crossroads or in a cemetery.

8. As you leave the area (this is very important) DO NOT LOOK BACK at the area where you have just left.

old cemetery

SOME DETAILS ABOUT THE SPELL:

1. The photo, name and birth date of the person form a link to the person.

2. The chicken feet represent the person’s psychic feet.

3. When you wrap the photo to the chicken feet, STRONGLY SEE AND VISUALIZE the person on whom you are casting the spell to be bound, immobilized and unable to harm you. THE STRONGER YOUR VISUALIZATION, THE STRONGER THE SPELL. (Personally, I find it useful to pull up memories of the person to evoke strong emotions towards that person: for instance if the person has harmed you physically, try to remember how powerless you felt at the time and how much you wanted that person not to harm you. Then visualize that person bound with ropes or in a cage, etc… whatever works for you. These types of spells call on the emotions of the person harmed so the stronger your emotions and the stronger your visualizations, the more effective the spell will be.)

4. When you are burying the box, AGAIN STRONGLY VISUALIZE THAT YOU ARE NOT BURYING THE BOX, BUT THE PERSON. If you need to, call on your emotions connected to this person again to visualize how much you want them “buried” and unable to harm you. Again, the stronger and clearer your visualization, the stronger the spell.

5. When you leave and don’t look back, what you are doing is effectively divorcing yourself from the need for validation or the need to see the effects of the spell. What you are saying (without saying) to the spirits who will work the spell is that you trust them to work out the spell.

Basically, what this spell does is return your enemies’ venom to them. So, the more they hate and want to harm you, the more they will suffer. However, and let me state again, that this spell is very dark. Personally, I would only perform it if my life or the life of someone I love were in danger from someone. Again, I do not take any responsibility for the effects of this spell on the caster or on the person on whom the spell is cast.

Putting on the Armor of God and Rebounding Negative Energies and Spirits

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the devil’s strategies.
Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm.
Eph 6:13 For this reason, take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to take a stand whenever evil comes. And when you have done everything you could, you will be able to stand firm.
Eph 6:14 Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Eph 6:15 and being firm-footed in the gospel of peace.
Eph 6:16 In addition to having clothed yourselves with these things, having taken up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one,
Eph 6:17 also take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Eph 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times with every kind of prayer and request. Likewise, be alert with your most diligent efforts and pray for all the saints.

Continuing with this week’s theme of protection, I have added to my repertoire of prayers and spells, a prayer to “put on” the armor of God according to the Scripture.

The Armor of God Prayer

Heavenly Father, I want to be obedient to You. I know that it is necessary for me to put on the armor You gave me. I do so now and praise You because You gave me all I need to stand in victory against Satan and his kingdom. Give me the wisdom to know Satan’s plans against me. Enable me to wrestle in victory against wicked spirits, princes, powers and rulers who battle against me.

I am happy to put on the armor of God and by faith put it on. As spiritual protection, I take the girdle of truth. I take Him who is truth as my strength and protection. I reject Satan’s lies and deceiving ways. I desire only to believe and know the truth. Thank You that Satan can’t stand against the bold use of the truth.

Thank You for the breastplate of righteousness. I put it on as my protection. I thank You for the righteousness which is mine by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I bring the righteousness of my Lord Jesus Christ against all of Satan’s work against me. I know Satan has to retreat from before the righteousness of God.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the sandals of peace you gave me. I desire to stand firm on the solid rock of peace You gave me. I claim peace with God through justification. I desire the peace of God which touches my emotions and feelings through prayers and sanctification. Thank You as I walk with You that, as the God of peace, You are putting Satan under my feet. Thank You that You haven’t given me the spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. Thank You that Satan cannot stand against Your peace.

Lord, I lift up the shield of faith against all the missiles that Satan and his demons hurl at me. I know You are my shield and in Your incarnation and crucifixion You took the arrows of Satan for me. By faith, I claim Your protection. I am willing that any fiery darts of Satan You wish to touch me should do so only for Your glory. Thank You that You are my perfect shield.

I know my mind is a target of Satan’s deceiving ways. I take the helmet of salvation. I know that Jesus is my salvation. I invite His mind to be in me. Let me think His thoughts, feel His love and compassion and let Him lead me. May my salvation defeat all satanic thoughts that come to my mind.

I take the sword of the spirit, God’s Word. I know it is truthful. I believe it and live in it’s truths. Grant me the love of Your Word, which comes from the Holy Spirit. Forgive me for neglecting Your Word. Help me to memorize it and use it against Satan and his plans. Thank You that Satan has to retreat from Your Word used against him. Thank You, Lord, for prayers and help me to keep this armor well oiled with prayers. I trust the Holy Spirit to enable me, to intercede for me and through me.

All these petitions, intercessions and praises I offer to the Lord Jesus Christ, the living God and my Savior. Amen.

Just a quick note: no one has to pray the way I do. I only offer these prayers as a sample of what someone could do. Your relationship with God is your own and you should feel free to pray however you feel comfortable.

I will begin, as of today, to add this prayer to my daily prayer time starting with the Warfare Prayer. If you can’t tell already, I’m really big on spiritual protection. I don’t like to be blindsided by surprises. Surprise me with cake and presents, not spiritual attacks.

Yesterday, I did the simple binding spell I wrote about here. I wrote the person’s name down on a sheet of paper all the while focusing on that person and thinking about all the harm that person has done to me, effectively putting it into the writing on the paper and the paper itself. Here’s where I veered off a bit from what I wrote yesterday: I felt my mind lead me to chant a simple binding spell while writing this person’s name. I chanted this:

(Insert name), I bind you from doing harm. Harm to yourself and and harm to others.

I chanted this over and over while writing the name on the paper and focusing on trapping any negative energy from this person within the paper and the writing. I then folded the paper, still chanting, as small as I could, put it in a plastic ziploc baggie, filled the baggie with water and then put it in the freezer.

I also did a spell yesterday to send back any evil and/or negative energies this person has sent to me. They would go right back to this person instead of landing and sticking on me. I will list it here in case anyone needs it. Please be sure you cast your circle and pentacle beforehand.

I visualized myself in the middle of my cast circle and pentacle and with three rings of purple light around me: one at my feet, one at my waist and one at my head.

I said this:

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

Protect me with all your might oh goddess gracious day and night.

So mote it be.

By dragon’s light this (insert month) January night I call to thee to give me your might.

By the power of three I conjure thee to protect all that surrounds me.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

So mote it be.

(Now point wand/finger to the sky)

Terra, Ignis, Aqua all three.

Elements of astral I summon thee.

Earth by Divinity.

Divinity by Earth.

Give my enemy the power to see the strength of the elements by my side.

No rules magic I shall abide.

Now when My enemy meets his downfall this spell shall have no power at all.

In no way shall this spell reverse or place upon me any curse.

So mote it be.

(now lower wand/finger)

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

Thrice around the circles bound sink all evil to the ground.

So mote it be.

I then closed the circle and thanked the spirits for attending me and send them on their way with blessings.

I am also continuing with my goal of thinking only positive thoughts and pushing away any negative thoughts that come into my mind and, with prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to replace those negative thoughts with positive thoughts from God. I don’t want to unintentionally draw any more negative energies into my life and I want to cleanse from myself what I have already done. I think this is really important. Any spiritual battle is fought and/or won/lost in the mind.

Today, I will be saying the prayer of St. Micheal the Archangel and putting salt in my doorways, windows and under my bed. I may even cast a perpetual circle and pentacle under my bed. I will post about that later.

Merry part and Blessings Be!
